Camping Products: Wins & Fails

Well, as you all know camping worked out pretty well. I knew going into this that there would be some trial and error as to what products traveled well or were right for the situation. I liked some things and not others, so I wanted to impart my new-found wisdom in a short post here… Continue reading Camping Products: Wins & Fails

Creative Blogger Award Nomination

This morning, I woke up to a pleasant surprise in my blog notifications. Jess from Bold Beauty Bytes nominated me for the Creative Blogger Award and I feel so grateful! Jess writes about her travels and all things beauty. I especially like this post about Nigerian music and this one about her skin care routine. Pre-soaking cotton pads in toner and storing in a glass container? Brilliant! Polish of the Week: (wrecked and sweaty)

It’s a little late, but I still wanted to do a Polish of the Week for today, and since I went to Zion National Park with my boyfriend, I planned ahead to take a couple pictures of my nails in some epic locations…..as you may have noticed, it didn’t exactly go as planned. 4 Tools to Cultivate Confidence

My sis, Tortilla enjoying the aftermath of one of our camping misadventures.
A vintage picture of my sis, Tortilla, splashing around in the aftermath of one of our church  youth group camping misadventures.

Today is the day! Dalton and I are leaving for Zion National Park around lunch time and I am feeling a little queasy-nervous. I’m pretty anxious normally, but camping isn’t something I’ve done a lot of period and it’s something that I’ve almost never pulled off successfully. I’ve prepared as much as I can, and Dalton has prepared way more than I have, but at the end of the day, I don’t have enough good experiences doing this to know what I need to bring or what I need to prepare to have a good time sleeping outdoors. Haul of America: Get ready for camping!

I don’t want to come off as uber precious and whiny, but I’m not crazy about camping. The few experiences I did have camping growing up were pretty terrible (sleep deprivation, tornado season in Oklahoma…ya know, good wholesome fun) so it’s been off my radar as an adult. I stay away from camping and camping stays away from me. Yay for autonomy! Continue reading Haul of America: Get ready for camping!

Polish of the Week: Easter & [subtle] nail art

wpid-wp-1428198646426.jpegI took a rare trip to Walmart yesterday….yes, I shop at Walmart sometimes. I’m going camping next weekend and I needed some supplies (you know, flashlight, canteen, anxiety meds…the usual stuff). So of course to make me feel better about having to go to Walmart on a Saturday, I had to spend 30 minutes perusing the cosmetics section. That’s where I found Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Lively Lilac (420)! Continue reading Polish of the Week: Easter & [subtle] nail art

Product Review: Colour Pop Lippie Stix + Super Shock Shadow & Cheek

This is not a sponsored post. This article represents my own opinions and all products mentioned were purchased by me.

One of the girls from work was wearing this cool opaque coral lip color a couple months ago and when I told her I was in love with it, she told me about Colour Pop.

I had to try it…. you know, for the blog.

This brand is not for the faint of heart. If you’re like me, some days you’re jonesing for some epic, balls-to-the-wall pigment and oh mah gawd have you found it! Continue reading Product Review: Colour Pop Lippie Stix + Super Shock Shadow & Cheek
